Branding for Britain

Exhibition in the House of Commons

An exhibition was held in the Upper Waiting Hall, House of Commons, for one week in February showing Britain at its best, featuring the brands that support our nation’s businesses and provide for our nation’s families.

Sponsored by Peter Luff MP, Chair, Business and Enterprise Committee, the exhibition presented an opportunity for parliamentarians and visitors to the Palace of Westminster to see:
           - some of the nation’s favourite brands
           - how they have been with us through thick and thin and
           - why brands matter so much to Britain, to constituencies and to families.

While brands are loved by consumers, they also make a huge contribution to the UK economy, employing approximately 1 million people and attracting £32.55 billion of investment. Many branded products have been with us for generations, delivering high quality and earning the trust of shoppers across the country, while the companies behind them innovate to ensure they remain relevant and fresh in today’s market.

Brands have been with us through thick and thin and have long been a source of wealth for the economy and jobs in constituencies. However their importance and relevance is often overlooked and their contribution to the UK’s competitiveness underplayed.

This exhibition put brands into the spotlight, suggesting  what is needed for the UK to derive the greatest benefit from its brands, helping us out of the current economic downturn.
